1920 Old Town HW 16' Closed Gunwale

This 16' Old Town HW model was built between January and March of 1920, and was originally shipped to Boston. It is a CS grade canoe, having spruce rails and birch decks, seats and thwarts. Like so many canoes, it needs to have the tips of the rails and stems rebuilt. I count 3 broken ribs (the ones with the metal repairs in the photos. It is possible there may be some more cracks hidden by the old varnish, but I did not see any. Some of the planking has been replaced with mahogany. The finish rails, rail caps and keel are gone and new ones will need to be fabricated. Click on the thumbnails to the left to see larger images. Price is $500 |
