Canoe by Henry L. Strobridge

Henry L. Strobridge wrote an article for Outing Magazine about how to build a sailing canoe. It was published in the April 1894 issue. Offsets for the canoe were provided, but no lines drawings or other information. Curious about how the canoe looked, I imported the offsets into FreeShip boat design software.

The results are shown below. Stem profiles are educated guesses based on the text. Location of the cockpit is accurate, but its shape and the coaming are best-guesses. Centerboard location is accurate, but shape is not. Location of masts are also accurate. Suggested rig was a 65 square foot Mohican sail on the main, and smaller lateen on the mizzen.
